Inspired by an article* I recently read, I have decided to give away one thing a day, every day for a month. The experience is said to be transformational, starting with creating a shift in focus from one self, to how to make someone else happy. It needn’t be something big, or something you bought, it can be about passing something on, and even a smile can count as a gift.
As GIFTS is one of my Love Languages** this practice speaks to me. And admittedly, it sounds like play to me, since choosing gifts always gives me an immense pleasure!
Part of me thinks it is utterly dumb to set a time frame for a practice that seems so meaningful and exciting to me, another voice is however telling me that limiting the one-gift-a-day-practice to a single month at first, might keep the lightness and joy and the feeling of an experiment to it. That might be true, and I do want to keep it mindful and joyful, heaven forbid feeling gift giving as a boring routine, or a heavy “must do”.
I’m excited to get started and have decided to keep a weekly log where I share what I am experiencing and pictures of the gifts, on a specially dedicated page on this blog.
Now, who’s joining me? Is there someone else who gets excited by this idea? If yes, let me know in the comment section and let’s inspire each other! And if you’re longing instead is to receive a gift – you can let me know that, too!
P.S. If someone feels like giving ME a gift, simply click the FOLLOW button on this blog, and you make me happy đ
